Vehicle Modification Engineering Group (VMEG)

The Department of Transport recognises the ASMF-WA in working alongside the certified panel of automotive consultants to provide engineering evidence and reports that ensure the safe modification or construction of vehicles in WA.

The Vehicle Modification Engineering Group (VMEG) was implemented in November, 2022 with the purpose of providing information relevant in the review and update of the National Code of Practice for Light Vehicle Construction and Modification (VSB 14).

Automotive consultants recognised by DoT demonstrate experience in the automotive industry and are members of one of the following engineering organisations:

• Engineers Australia (formerly called the Institution of Engineers Australia); or

• The Society of Automotive Engineers, Australasia (SAE-A) – Automotive Signatory Group.

The ASMF-WA working closely with the panel of automotive consultants assist to represent the voice of motor vehicle enthusiasts and partake in the research and investigation of standard regulations to promote the sport of street machining and encourage more classic cars on WA roads.
