Concessions for Classics
Lead by Mr. Eddie Ieraci, the campaign to balance the constraints on classic vehicle ownership and licensing fees commenced in 2018.
With reference to South Australia’s $90 for 90 day licensing scheme, Mr. Ieraci put forward an online petition to the Department of Transport that soon gained the support of over 10,000 car enthusiasts across WA.
Following a public debut at the Claremont Showground “Hotrod and Street Machine Spectacular”, the campaign gained the support of Event Managers Mr. Stan and Mrs. Rita Khose and lead to a surge of manual signatures from enthusiasts across the street machine community.
The petition gained further traction with the support of Mr. Jason Fuller at the Perth Motorplex “Custom Cars and Coffee” event.
With the help of Mr. Adrian Licastro providing tow trucks, and a display of Mr. Brad Fletcher’s 1971 Ford Fairmont, Mr. Murvan Krooger’s 1969 HT and Mr. Ieraci’s 1957 Buick; signatures continued to grow with over 10,000 members of the community coming on board to show their support.
With the success of the campaign, Mr. Ieraci along with Mr. Mic Rac and Mr. Mick Allender were invited to work closely with the Department of Transport to develop a solution.
Officially coming into effect on 16 April 2021, the Concessions for Classics Scheme provides a 75% reduction in licensing fees and 90 days of road use per year for any member of a DoT approved motoring club.
What began with mission for change, 3 cars, and the united voice of street machine enthusiasts across WA formed the foundation of a strong and continuing relationship with the Department of Transport.
Working together to encourage more classic cars, street rods and motorcycles on WA roads.
